1. Who We Are

PNGmaker ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at pngmaker.com. PNGmaker is a free, browser-based image processing platform providing tools for background removal, image compression, format conversion, resizing, and more.

2. Data We Collect

Your Images

We do not collect your images. All image processing (background removal, compression, conversion, etc.) runs entirely in your browser using client-side technology. Your images never leave your device, are never transmitted to our servers, and are never stored by PNGmaker.

Analytics Data

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how users interact with the Service. This includes page views, feature usage events, device type, browser type, and approximate geographic region. IP addresses are anonymized by Google before being processed. Analytics are only collected with your consent (see Section 8 — Cookies).

API Access Requests

If you submit a request for API access via our web form, we collect your name and email address. This information is stored in a secure database hosted by Neon (see Section 7 — Third Parties) and is used solely to process your request and communicate with you about API access.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Analytics: To understand how the Service is used, identify areas for improvement, and measure performance — so we can make PNGmaker better.
  • API access email: To respond to your API access request, provide credentials, and communicate relevant updates about API availability or changes.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and UK, our legal bases for processing personal data are:

  • Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): We have a legitimate interest in understanding how our Service is used to improve it. This applies to analytics data.
  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR): Analytics cookies are only placed with your explicit consent, which you can provide or withdraw via the cookie banner.
  • Contract / pre-contractual steps (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR): When you request API access, we process your contact details to respond to your request and provide the service.

5. Data Retention

  • Images: Not retained. Never collected.
  • Analytics data: Retained as per Google Analytics default settings (typically 14 months for event data). You can review Google's retention policy at support.google.com.
  • API access emails: Retained for as long as the API relationship is active or relevant, then deleted upon request or when no longer needed.
  • Cookie consent preference: Stored locally in your browser for 1 year.

6. Your Rights

Under GDPR and other applicable privacy laws, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Right to data portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw analytics consent at any time via the cookie banner or browser settings.

7. Third Parties

We use the following third-party services:

Google Analytics (GA4)

Used for website analytics. Google may process anonymized usage data on servers outside your country. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. Analytics are only activated with your consent.

Neon (PostgreSQL Hosting)

API access request data (name and email) is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Neon's privacy policy: neon.tech/privacy.

Vercel (Hosting Infrastructure)

PNGmaker is hosted on Vercel. Vercel processes web requests as part of serving the application. Vercel's privacy policy: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

We do not share your personal data with any other third parties, and we do not sell your data.

8. Cookies

We use cookies for analytics and to remember your cookie preferences. Analytics cookies require your consent. See our Cookie Policy for the full list of cookies and how to manage them.

9. Children's Privacy

PNGmaker is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@pngmaker.com and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated policy.
